Gucci promotes chief designer
The world's third-largest luxury goods company, Gucci Group NV, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, has announced it will name its current creative director Tom Ford as vice chairman of the company. The promotion was spawned by an effort to tie the Texas-born Ford into a long-term future with the company. Ford,
who has been widely regarded as a key factor in the company's resurgence in the late 1990s, will retain full control of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent-brand designs.
