Home Depot buys stores, appoints VP

The Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer, has doubled its presence in Mexico by agreeing to acquire Del Norte, a four-store chain of home improvement stores in Juarez. The Atlanta-based company is also building new stores in Mexicali and Tijuana. Additional construction sites are

under consideration for development later this year. The Home Depot has also named Millard E. Barron as senior vice president - store merchandising. Barron joins Home Depot with a wealth of retail experience, including President and CEO of Payless Cashways and Chief Operating Officer for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. - International. Barron will be focused on in-store merchandising, strategy and store design.
