CVS to close 200 stores

The drug store retailer, CVS Corp., plans to shutter about 200 stores in an effort to increase long-term, double-digit earnings. As part of the plan, CVS plans to close one of its distribution centers and improve in-store customer service. The Woonsocket, R.I.-based retailer plans to close the stores

in the first quarter of 2002. The decision stems from the 22.1% decline in its third quarter earnings.
