Krause's Furniture files for bankruptcy
Krause's Furniture has voluntarily filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and plans to close all showrooms that did not show a profit last year. Of the company's 89 stores, which operate under the names Krause's Custom Crafted Furniture and Castro Convertibles, 57 will remain open under the plan. Debtor-in-possesion
financing will support operations through the end of September. A group that includes current members of management, some current investors and some new investors has submitted a proposal to purchase the 57 showrooms, the company's factory at its headquarters in Brea, Calif., and Krause's contract division.
