Cablevision prepares to close The Wiz chain
Cablevision Electronics Investments Inc., a subsidiary of Bethpage, N.Y.-based Cablevision Systems Corp., says it plans to close the remaining 17 locations of The Wiz electronics chain if it can't find a buyer by the end of June. Cablevision is exploring options for its 17 remaining The Wiz stores, including
selling the business or closing all the stores. The chain made several changes to its business to improve customer service, while continuing to evaluate its performance and strategy. Cablevision can no longer operate the stores, citing the weakened retail economy and other factors.
