J.C. Penney invests $100 million in 14 new stores

By the end of 2001, J.C. Penney plans to invest $100 million into 14 new stores. The new stores will feature several design changes, including wider aisles, better lighting and an impressive signage system that highlights major brands throughout the store. The Plano, Texas-based retailer had the grand

opening of its Deptford Mall store in New Jersey on Aug. 1. The New Jersey store features a full furniture department and a styling salon. Currently, there are more than 1,000 JCPenney stores throughout the United States.
