NASFM Profit Report shows improved profit margins, despite slowing sales

The National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers published its 2001 Profit Report and revealed improved profit margins but slowing industry sales. The 91 NASFM member companies that participated in the survey reported sales of more than $1.3 billion in 2000. The median company in the survey reported

sales growth of 3.1 percent, compared to 6.8 percent in 1999. Although sales have slowed down, profit margins increased. According to the survey, the median profit before taxes by the participants was 4.4 percent, up from 3.1 percent in the 2000 report.

The 2001 Profit Report includes industry averages for all line items on the income statement and balance sheet, cross-referenced by sales volume, product mix and materials manufactured.
