Jim Rose Circus: The Next 'osbournes'?

By Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.
Publication: Billboard
Date: Tuesday, May 14 2002
Infamous performance troupe the Jim Rose Circus will test the waters of the reality-based TV series under a new deal with Los Angeles-based Boxx Communications. The production company will follow the Circus on its summer North American tour, wiring its tour bus with cameras and boiling down the highlights

for a proposed 13-episode TV series. Boxx plans to shop the idea to various television networks.

The Jim Rose Circus, named after its colorful leader, rose to prominence thanks to its often shocking feats during a stint on the 1992 Lollapalooza tour. Rose and tattooed troupe member the Enigma later starred in an episode of "The X-Files," centering around a rash of killings at a retirement community for sideshow performers.

"This is my dream show," Rose says of the upcoming tour, which begins May 14 in Edmonton, Alberta. "Lifto has recovered from a shopping cart accident and is ready. The Mexican transvestite wrestlers have a bone to pick." Other troupe members include Bebe the Beautiful, the Idiot Brothers, Cappy, and Rubberboy.
