Weiland Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge

Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland was arrested just before 2 a.m. Monday morning in Las Vegas for domestic violence, according to a police report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The singer was released from custody on Monday after posting $3,000 bail, and performed with his

band that evening.

The incident occurred at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, where the Stone Temple Pilots were staying and scheduled
to perform Monday and yesterday (Nov. 20). The report says that Weiland's wife, Mary Forsberg, told police that she had been engaged in a verbal argument with her husband over a prescription medication. She then attempted to stop her husband from leaving the room by sitting in front of the door, at which point it's reported that "Scott became physical."

Weiland is said to have forcefully grabbed his wife by the arms and "then pushed Mary against the wall several times" before exiting the room. A 911 call was placed by hotel security, and the report states Polaroid shots were taken of bruises on Mary's bicep.

Weiland's publicist had no comment on the incident, but said the band intended to perform its second Las Vegas show last night, as well as a New Year's Eve concert at the Hard Rock in Orlando, Fla. Weiland had a number of well-publicized run-ins with the law on drug-related issues in the mid-'90s, and served three months in prison at the end of 1999 for violating probation.

He and Forsberg were married last year and have one child together. Weiland has told Billboard that the Stone Temple Pilot's 2000 album "No. 4" (Atlantic) explores the dissolution of his first marriage and his subsequent connection with Mary.

The group released its fifth album last June, "Shangri-La Dee Da," which debuted at No. 9 on The Billboard 200.
