Jane's Addiction, Weezer Head Coachella Lineup

Jane's Addiction, Weezer, Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, Paul Oakenfold, Mos Def, the Roots, and a host of top electronic and DJ acts are confirmed for the second Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. Set for April 28 at the Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif., just outside of Palm Springs, the

bill will also feature the Orb, Aphex Twin, Dandy Warhols, Gang Starr, and Roni Size/Reprazent.

Staged by Southern California concert promoter Goldenvoice, the event returns after a one-year hiatus, which a Goldenvoice spokesperson attributed to booking problems and other obstacles. The inaugural, two-day edition in 1999 featured performances by Rage Against The Machine, Beck, Moby, Morrissey, Tool, Pavement, and Ben Harper, as well as dozens of dance and electronic acts.

Additional artists on board this year include Ozomatli, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Iggy Pop, St. Germain, Christopher Lawrence, Photek, Blonde Redhead, Jason Bentley, Pedro The Lion, Del Tha Funky Homosapien, Smith & Mighty, Andrea Parker, and Aceyalone.

The appearance of Jane's Addiction comes as something of a surprise, since the band has been inactive since its 1997 reunion tour, which featured the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea filling in for original bassist Eric Avery. Although the band's current lineup remains a mystery, frontman Perry Ferrell has finally completed his long-festering solo album "The Diamond Jubilee" (Virgin), which is due out in late spring or early summer.

Tickets for this year's festival are $65 and go on sale Saturday (March 3) at 12:00 p.m. PT via all Ticketmaster outlets. For more information, visit the event's official Web site.
