Widespread Panic Plans 'mini-fest'

Widespread Panic will headline a new themed "mini-festival" tour to begin in early June and hit some 40-plus markets. Another three or four acts will be on the bill; the lineup will be announced shortly. Buck Williams, whose PGA books Panic, says that a portion of each ticket sold will go to a local

charity of the band's choice. According to Amusement Business, the festival will be short on the ancillary attractions that have been part of past tours. "This is not a carnival, it's about music and fun, without too many distractions," says Williams. Ticket prices will be kept affordable, in the $15-$25 range. Widespread Panic's new double live CD "Light Fuse . . . Get Away" is due April 28 on Capricorn.
