Videos Focus On Classic Hendrix, Band Sets
Documentaries about seminal rock albums by Jimi Hendrix and the Band will be released May 19 by Rhino Home Video. The videos, which tell the stories behind Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland" and the Band's eponymous set, draw upon demos, live performances, home movies, archival footage, and photo stills,
as well as interviews with the artists, engineers, and producers involved.
Released in 1968 by Reprise, "Electric Ladyland" went multiplatinum and contains Hendrix's biggest hit, "All Along The Watch Tower,' as well as "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)," later covered by Stevie Ray Vaughan. The Band's self-titled set, released in 1969 by Capitol, contains the charting singles "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and "Up On Cripple Creek," in addition to "Across The Great Divide" and "Rag Mama Rag.
