Wherehouse Offers Deal On Garth Box
Torrance, Calif.-based retail chain Wherehouse Entertainment is pricing Garth Brooks' six-CD boxed set, "The Limited Series," for $14.99 when consumers trade in any five used CDs. The promotion is good until May 18 at Wherehouse's 220 outlets, except for two locations in Las Vegas, where CD trade-ins
are prohibited; promotional copies will not be accepted. "We can't play the pricing game," Wherehouse country music buyer Jeff Stoltz tells Billboard Bulletin, "and this is a good way to break through the clutter." Wherehouse will price the boxed set at $34.99 without the trade-ins. According to Stoltz, Capitol Nashville set a $27.85 minimum advertised price point at the last minute.
