U.k. Radio Station Enters Album Market

The U.K's Galaxy Radio Network, which has four dance-formatted stations in major markets and a fifth to launch this summer, is entering the lucrative dance compilation arena. "Galaxy Weekend" was released this week on the Ministry Of Sound label, distributed by 3MV/TEN.

The

two-CD set features tracks by Fatboy Slim, Underworld, James Brown, and others, remixed by Boy George and Allister Whitehead, both of whom present shows for the network. Galaxy has a weekly audience reach of 2 million listeners on stations in southwest England, Birmingham, Manchester, and Yorkshire. The new station goes on air in early June in northeast England.
