Despite Reports, Puffy And Exec Haven't Settled

Bad Boy Entertainment mogul Sean "Puffy" Combs is close to reaching an out-of-court settlement with Interscope Records executive Steve Stoute. Combs was arrested April 16 for assaulting Stoute, who is also the manager of Columbia Records act Nas. The attack on Stoute -- which took place at Interscope's

New York office and reportedly involved two other assailants -- allegedly occurred because Combs was unhappy with his cameo in Nas' video "Hate Me Now," in which he appears nailed to a cross.

A source close to Combs says that contrary to reports, which claim Combs will pay Stoute "producer and management fees" amounting to $500,000, a settlement has not been finalized: "Puffy and Steve are working on mending their friendship, and the settlement negotiations are ongoing." Combs is scheduled to appear Thursday in New York Criminal Court to answer to assault and criminal-mischief charges stemming from the incident.
