Bong Load Founder Starts Blues Label
Tom Rothrock, founder of independent label Bong Load Records, is launching a blues label, Acid Blues Records. The L.A.-based imprint will go through Proper Distribution, which also distributes Bong Load.
The first release will be Jon Brown's debut album, "70 Years
Coming," due Sept. 21. Also in September, Acid Blues will re-release R.L. Burnside's "Rollin' Tumblin'" EP, originally issued on Bong Load in 1998, with an additional track.
The imprint's Web site, acidbluesrecords.com, will begin previewing music from the labels' artists in mid-July.
