Billboard Bits: Lopez, Speaks, Hersh, James
Jennifer Lopez will be honored with the Versace Award at the 2000 VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards, set for Oct. 20 at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York. Created to pay tribute to its namesake, the late fashion designer Gianni Versace, the award is presented to the person "who best continues to represent the boundless energy, infinite creativity and fearlessness that was Versace." Madonna was honored with the first Versace Award in 1998.
Hosted by actor Cuba Gooding Jr. ("Jerry Maguire," "As Good As It Gets"), the event will honor individuals in 10 categories covering style, fashion, design, and music video artistry. Destiny's Child, Kid Rock, and Lenny Kravitz are scheduled to perform.
The ceremony will air on VH1 beginning at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
