Pearl Jam Taps Vandals For European Dates

Date: Thursday, May 18 2000
Pearl Jam has tapped veteran California punk band the Vandals to open eight of the first 10 shows on its upcoming European tour, which kicks off next Tuesday (May 23) in Lisbon, Portugal. The Vandals will remain on the tour until a June 8 show in Paris, after which the Dismemberment Plan will support

Pearl Jam through the trek's July 3 finale in Rotterdam, Holland.

The Vandals -- vocalist Dave Quackenbush, guitarist Warren Fitzgerald, bassist Joe Escalante, and noted session drummer Josh Freese -- have released a host of albums on their own Kung Fu label in recent years. Last October, the group issued "The Vandals Play Really Bad Original Country Tunes," and have completed a new studio album set for an August release. In addition, Freese will release a solo album, "The Notorious One Man Orgy," on July 11.

In other Pearl Jam news, the artwork of bassist Jeff Ament and his brother Barry -- who create under the name Ames Bros. -- will be on display at the Max Fish Bar and Gallery in New York from June 29-July 16. The Ames Bros. have drawn and created much of Pearl Jam's album art and tour posters over the years.
