Dr. Dre Tops Hip-hop Award Nominations

Dr. Dre will be up for five honors, including artist and album of the year, at the second annual "The Source Hip-Hop Music Awards 2000" on Aug. 22 at the Pasadena Civic Center in Pasadena, Calif. Other artists receiving multiple nominations include Jay-Z and Nas with four; and Mobb Deep, Hot Boys, Method Man & Redman, and Puff Daddy with three.

In addition to his award nominations, Dr. Dre will be the recipient of a lifetime achievement award along with Ice Cube. Grand Wizard Theodore will receive the pioneer award. This year's event will be taped for broadcast on the UPN network on Aug. 29.
