A host of hotly anticipated R&B/hip-hop albums will arrive this fall, including Erykah Badu's long-awaited and as-yet-untitled sophomore set, due Sept. 19 on Motown. First single "Bag Lady" is due in stores Aug. 15. Badu was recently seen in the 1999 Oscar-nominated film "The Cider House Rules."
On Oct. 3 comes "Lead The Way," the Oct. 3 sophomore set by TWDY (The Whole Damn Yey!) on Thump Street/Thump Records. Ant Banks produced a new TWDY lineup with Dolla Will, Captain Save'm, and others; guests include Too $hort, Ice-T, and Kurupt. The title track is already out as a single.
LaFace group OutKast's "Stankonia," the follow-up to its 1998 smash "Aquemini," arrives Oct. 24, preceded by the radio-only single "B.O.B.," which stands for "Bombs Over Baghdad." Videos for that cut and second single "Miss Jackson" are in the works, as are tour dates coinciding with the record's release.
"Stankonia" was largely self-produced but includes three songs helmed by Organized Noise. Badu makes a guest appearance on the track "Humble Mumble."
"Aquemini" debuted at No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
