Recording legend Patti Page hopes to add another notch to an already illustrious career by signing to Pat Boone's the Gold Label. The artist plans to release a new album, "Brand New Tennessee Waltz," in early January. Produced by Grammy-winning producer/songwriter Jon Vezner, the album features Page
performing duets with contemporary country music artists Suzy Bogguss, Jerry Douglas, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Kathy Mattea, Jesse Winchester, and Trisha Yearwood.
"With this album I had the opportunity to sing with so many of the wonderful country music stars of today and to record some of the great contemporary material which is being written," Page says of the set. "It is such a tremendous thrill that after 52 years since my first hit record, I'm still doing what I love."
The singer brings those 52 years full circle with a new recording of the title track, the biggest hit of her career. "Tennessee Waltz" was originally released in 1950, and has to date sold over 10 million copies, making it one of the best-selling singles of all time.
Also known for such classics such as "Old Cape Cod," "Allegheny Moon" and "Doggie In The Window," Page won a Grammy in 1999 for a recording of the celebration of her 50th anniversary in show business, "Live From Carnegie Hall." With more than 100 albums, Page is the only female recording artist to appear on the Billboard charts in each of the past five decades.
Founded a year ago by Boone, the Gold Label targets the over-45 audience with new and classic music and video offerings from established artists. Page joins a roster that includes Glen Campbell, Foster & Allen, the Four Freshmen, Cleo Laine, the Lettermen, Toni Tennille, the Ventures, and Roger Williams, among others.
