* The newly launched magazine Wishuwere herexxx, a hybrid Brit-American photo magazine put out in New York by publisher and creative director Glenn Hunt and edited by Amanda Brown, is not for the faint of heart. Someone has a good eye for disturbing stuff. Wishuwereherexxx subtitles itself as documentation, observation, people, places, fashion and the premier issue features such artists as Boris Mikhailov (with previously viewed works); photographer David Slijper, who has shot for Vogue UK, Dutch and London's Sunday Times Magazine; and Rebecca Sommer, documenting the killing and dismembering of a chicken. The end-pages are filled with brightly lit, perma-grinning Miss Worlds courtesy of Juergen Teller.

* In the fall issue of Flaunt magazine, after three pages of Alexei-Hay shot Gucci advertising, is a white page with the copy, printed out on red plastic tic-a-tape: "Point of View," "Reason and Squalor," and "Long Nguyen." This is the gateway page to the fashion section, beginning with six pages of exploitation: a dwarf modeling obviously oversized clothes designed by Tom Ford for Gucci and photographed by Andres Serrano.
