Infantelligence, a new quarterly magazine on early learning based in Taos, New Mexico, will start its publication next January. Editor-in-chief Hara Marano says the magazine targets affluent parents and focuses on babies "pre-birth to age three." "We're not the first parenting magazine, but we're not

like the other parenting magazines," she says. "It's not just about dirty diapers, it's not cute pictures of kids."

What she's looking for is "real pictures" of "real babies." Photographers who document the development of their own children are welcome to send their images, as long as the photos are relevant to the magazine's content. She adds: "I like photographs that happen at the moment. There's kinetic energy in the picture, like something is about to happen, like that `Aha!' moment." Each issue of the magazine has about eight features, including a photo essay. The first essay follows two families through pregnancy, birth and until the baby is three years old. Marano is open to using different photographers for each stage of the photo essay. "I don't want to confine it to any one look," she says. "I'm definitely open to finding new ways of covering subjects...It has to be something interesting, not covering babies just in the cute, usual way."

Interested photographers should send portfolios to her or photo editor Linda Johnson, from design firm Swell Design in Sante Fe, New Mexico.
