Forgent Sues TV Companies Over Patents


(The Hollywood Reporter) -- Software and intellectual property licensing firm Forgent Networks on July 14 said it has filed a lawsuit against 15 cable and satellite TV companies for infringing on a digital video recording patent it holds.

Among those

named in the lawsuit are Time Warner, Charter Communications, Comcast Corp., Cox Communications, EchoStar Communications and DirecTV Group. The patent in question is for technology that allows for video playback during recording.
