(The Hollywood Reporter) -- As part of its restructuring plan from videogame publisher to broader entertainment media company, Atari Inc. will close down its Santa Monica, Calif., and Beverly, Mass., publishing studios by June and moving all aspects of the game company to New York.

Although the publisher is severing its physical ties with Hollywood, Jim Caparro, who took over as president/CEO late last year, said the company will continue to explore Hollywood licenses.

By combining operations, Atari -- which is controlled by France-based Infogrames Entertainment -- hopes to reduce costs and invest more heavily in research and development, as well as the marketing of its games.
