EMI Names Parks For Biz Dev

EMI Music has promoted Kenneth Parks to senior VP of business development for the strategy and business development group. He was VP of legal and business affairs.

Parks, who is based in New York, reports to Adam Klein, executive VP of the strategy and business development group, and on a functional basis to Gareth Hopkins, EMI's London-based senior VP of legal and business affairs.

Parks, who joined EMI in 2003 as VP legal and business affairs for the digital distribution and development group, will continue to work on expanding the availability of the company's repertoire to new platforms.

Prior to EMI, Parks was at GetMusic LLC, where he served as general counsel. He was also chief technology counsel for three years at Reuters Group PLC, where he had global responsibility for their technology-related legal and business affairs. He was also in private practice at Weil Gotshal & Manges in New York, where he specialized in intellectual property litigation and transactions.

Parks earned a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, a Masters of Science in electrical engineering from Lehigh University as well as a Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering from Lafayette College.
