MP3/TVT Decision Could Take Weeks

It may be three weeks before MP3.com finds out if it must pay TVT Records nearly $3 million in copyright-infringement damages. A New York jury apparently erred last week in ordering MP3.com to pay the indie $290,000; jurors later said the damages should have been about $3 million (Bulletin, April 10).

U.S. District Court Judge Jed Rakoff interviewed the eight jurors yesterday and Monday. According to reports, options he is considering include declaring a mistrial, letting the decision stand, or raising the damages to $3 million.
