Adobe Systems has announced the withdrawal of a criminal complaint filed last week that led to the arrest in Las Vegas of Russian programmer Dmitry Sklyarov for violating anti-circumvention measures of the 1998 Digital Millenium Copyright Act (Bulletin, July 23). Federal officials, however, have not

dropped charges against Sklyarov. "The prosecution of this individual in this particular case is not conducive to the best interests of any of the parties involved or the industry," said Colleen Pouliot, senior VP/general counsel for Adobe.
