Nobs To Retire From Swiss Warner Post

Claude Nobs, managing director of Warner Music Switzerland, is retiring effective Sept. 30.

Nobs is head of the Warner Music International (WMI) affiliate located in Montreux, Switzerland, which is responsible for artist relations activities and WMI's video facility.

The operation will now become a subsidiary of Warner Music Switzerland, based in Zurich, which will continue to be responsible for the marketing, promotion, and sales of WMI releases in Switzerland under the direction of managing director Chris Wepfer.

Nobs, who is the founder and organizer of the Montreux Jazz Festival, joined the original WEA International company in 1972 with responsibility for the European artist relations department and became managing director of European artist relations in 1980. He was named managing director of Warner Music Switzerland when the company was established in 1985.

Nobs will continue to organize the Montreux Jazz Festival.
