Santaolalla Grabs Oscar For 'Babel' Score
Argentine producer, composer and songwriter Gustavo Santaolalla nabbed the Oscar for best original score for the film "Babel." This is Santaolalla's second consecutive Academy Award; last year he won for the score for "Brokeback Mountain."
Aside from his current work
in films, Santaolalla is well known in the Latin music world as a pioneer of Latin alternative and rock music, thanks to his work as a producer with the likes of Juleita Venegas, Molotov, Bersuit, Café Tacuba and, most recently, Juanes.
Santaolalla launched his career as a co- founder of Argentine rock band Arco Iris. He has also released several solo albums and has been behind projects like Bajofondo Tango Club.
