Musicians Get Airline Security Reprieve

After weeks of lobbying, the American Federation of Musicians and industry groups such as ASCAP and the RIAA last week convinced federal legislators to include language in the new Airline Security Act that will allow touring musicians to bring rare or delicate instruments on planes as carry-on luggage.

Under-the-plane cargo handling of violins, guitars, cellos, and other instruments often results in damage or loss.
