EMI Adds Amplified, Supertracks To Test

Amplified.com and Supertracks will provide digital distribution services for EMI Recorded Music's paid download test, scheduled to begin July 1, according to EMI Music Distribution president Richard Cottrell. The major plans to make more than 100 albums, 40 mainstream singles, and 200 Christian singles available for the test, including material by D'Angelo, Janet Jackson, and Pink Floyd.

Plans are for the download partners?Liquid Audio is also participating (Bulletin, May 30)?to distribute the tracks via their network of online retailers. Cottrell also says that the company is working on a plan to enable retailers that don't have a Web site to participate in the test. All tracks will be available in the Microsoft Windows Media format.
