Talks Heating Up Between Clive, BMG
Negotiations between BMG Entertainment and outgoing Arista president Clive Davis over the formation of his new label, which is likely to be financed by the major, have increased in recent days. The new company, tentatively called Davis Entertainment, is expected to begin operating this fall.
Davis will step down as Arista president/CEO when his contract expires at the end of this month; L.A. Reid, co-founder of Arista joint venture LaFace Records, will take over.
