Separate Skynyrd Shows Will Cater To Country, Rock Fans

Lynyrd Skynyrd will test a new marketing scheme with separate performances at Nashville's AmSouth Amphitheatre for the band's country and rock fans. The "Workin' Man's Weekend" features Skynyrd playing with Travis Tritt and Montgomery Gentry on Aug. 11 and with Gov't Mule and Nashville Pussy the next

night.

Since Skynyrd annually sells out the venue at about 17,000, the band's handlers feel that if they can draw 20,000-25,000 over two nights, the concept will be a success. "If it works, we'll take it to eight to 10 markets next year, places like Atlanta, Birmingham [Ala.], and Pittsburgh, where the band is really popular," says Ross Schilling of Vector Management. Two-for-one lawn seats for both shows will go for $20. Skynyrd will play a different set each night.
