The Association of Independent Music (AIM) in the U.K. has appointed Mo Darbyshire to manage the development of its online music licensing trial, which began at the end of July.

In her new position, effective immediately, the London-based Darbyshire reports to AIM chief executive officer Alison Wenham. She will also continue working as director of music services at Sky Television and head up the broadcast consultancy company Soundmouse which she co-founded.

According to a spokesman with AIM, "Mo will also source new opportunities for U.K. independents within the conventional broadcast environment. She will focus on uses [of music] in areas which [collecting society] PPL does not currently oversee, but where there is still room for collective deals on behalf of U.K. independents." Kai R.
