Sydney-based venue operator Arena Management today (Aug. 11) promoted its operations manager David Druery to GM of the Sydney Entertainment Centre.

He replaces Chris Hansen, who was appointed to the position on a short-term basis last January. Hansen has decided to

return to his native United States for personal reasons, according to Arena Management's CEO Michael Jacobsen.

After stints as a musician, artist manager and booking agent, Druery joined the SEC seven years ago, and has held a range of operations and technical management positions.

"We look forward to the contribution David will make to cementing the SEC's position as Sydney's large entertainment venue of choice," Jacobsen said.

"It is also gratifying to know that our policy of developing management talent within the organization is reaping rewards."

Arena Management also operates the Capitol Theatre in Sydney and the Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand.
