RealNetworks reports that it had more than 250,000 subscribers to its digital music services as of the end of the third quarter, up 46% from the previous quarter. The figure includes subscribers to RealOne RadioPass, the commercial-free Internet radio service, and Rhapsody, the on-demand digital music offering.

Real declined to break out numbers for the two services, but sources estimate that Rhapsody subscriptions-which cost $9.95 per month-are slightly outpacing users of RadioPass.

Real also says it is now offering more than 400,000 tracks through Rhapsody. More than 320,000 of those songs are available for purchase at 79 cents apiece. However, a la carte purchases are available only to subscribers for now. The company has said it plans to launch a download store that doesn't require a subscription later this year.
