Olympus plans to halt production of the m:robe portable digital music device less than a year after first unveiling the product at CES.
The company pointed to competition from Sony and Apple as the reason behind the decision. The announcement was made as part of a
company-wide product realignment, which includes a move away from compact digital cameras to focus more on high-end devices.
The m:robe was a combined MP3 player and digital camera. Users could store photos on the device and create custom slide shows to music stored in the device.
Olympus initially supported the product with a strong marketing push that included a Super Bowl ad.
