Time Warner To Drop 'AOL' From Name

The AOL Time Warner board of directors yesterday voted to rename the company Time Warner Inc. The change--including adoption of the "TWX" ticker symbol on the New York Stock Exchange--should be completed in a few weeks.

Chairman/CEO Dick Parsons says, "We believe that

our new name better reflects the portfolio of our valuable businesses and ends any confusion between our corporate name and the America Online name."

The company's stock closed yesterday up 14 cents at $16.45.
