A raid organized by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) led to the seizure of more than 100,000 counterfeit CDs and other entertainment software. The goods seized July 20 in Brad-ford, England, are valued at more than $1.6 million.

Working with police, trading

standard officers and other intellectual rights organizations, the BPI nabbed four suspects at the city's Cannon Mills market stalls. BPI director of anti-piracy David Martin says the suspects could receive up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.

Most of the seized product was Asian music. A BPI spokesman says other recordings seized included albums nominated for this year's Panasonic Mercury Prize (Bulletin, July 23).
