Audio Sales Down At Japan's Pony Canyon

Tokyo-based label Pony Canyon yesterday reported a 28% decline in audio software sales to ¥10.8 billion ($92 million) for the year ended March 20. The company's total sales rose 20% from the previous year to ¥59.9 billion ($510.3 million), mainly due to a 42% increase in sales of videos (including music

videos) and other visual software to ¥45.7 billion ($389.3 million). Pony Canyon does not release profit figures.

Pony Canyon, whose major music acts include rock band Glay and female vocalist Aiko, is part of the Fujisankei Communications media conglomerate.
