Vodafone Scoops Top Prize At Mobile Awards
Vodafone's full-track music download service clinched the prestigious mobile music award last night (June 15) at the second annual Mobile Entertainment Awards, held at Earl's Court in London.
Vodafone's downloads offering went live last November when the mobile-operator
kicked off its high-speed 3G service in several European markets and Japan.
At launch, the service offered 3,000 titles. By January, Vodafone claimed to have distributed 1 million tracks to customers.
Other winners on the night included French carrier Orange France for best mobile service, while Taleni Armanto received the special recognition award; Armanto invented the "Snake" game for handset manufacturer Nokia.
The event is organized by global trade organization the Mobile Entertainment Forum. Awards are decided by a panel of judges comprising analyst and journalists.
