Sydney-based concert promoter Michael Jacobsen was today (May 5) appointed CEO of Arena Management, operator of the 12,400-capacity Sydney Entertainment Center. Arena Management also operates the 2,000-capacity Capitol Theater in Sydney.

"I am particularly motivated

to see that Arena continues to enjoy a leading position in the competitive Sydney market, which the SEC and Capitol Theater have served so well for so long," Jacobsen said.

Jacobsen is executive director of the Jacobsen family group of companies, which include Jacobsen Entertainment and Jacobsen Venue Management, the major shareholder of Arena Management. He is co-producer and global rights holder of "Dirty Dancing - the Classic Story, On Stage", which is playing currently Australia.

He sits on the boards of five Australian venues, as well as New Zealand's Auckland City Arena, which Jacobsen Venue Management is developing ahead of a planned opening in February 2006.

"(Jacobsen)'s strategic leadership, networks and industry experience will prove extremely valuable as Arena seeks to leverage its portfolio of premium venues to continue to attract high-quality, world-class shows appealing to both new and traditional audiences," Arena Management chairman Ted Harris said.
