It's now against the law -- with civil penalty remedies -- to distribute pre-release recordings. President Bush signed the Family Entertainment and Copyright Act into law yesterday (April 27). Congress passed the bill April 19.

The bill allows for the sale of products that can edit scenes and language out of DVD movies that parents might find offensive to children. The legislation also makes it a crime to use camcorders in movie theaters to copy films.
