NetPD, the U.K.-based online media monitoring company that helped track digital files on Napster, has been acquired by London-based digital music services firm Broadchart. Details of the deal were not disclosed.

"The acquisition," says Broadchart CEO Andy Hill, "enables

us to establish a presence and customer base in the U.S. and to offer an even more comprehensive range of services to music industry customers, which now include ones which address the ever growing problem of illegal music."

The enlarged firm will offer services ranging from the digitization of copyrights to the surveillance and policing of music online. The NetPD brand will be retained within the overall structure.

Concurrently, Phildrew Ventures, a backer of NetPD, has made an undisclosed investment in the expanded company.
