Sony Music Spain has restructured, replacing the Columbia and Epic labels with local and international repertoire divisions.
Former Columbia managing director Raúl López has been named GM of Sony Music Spain, with responsibility for the marketing and promotion of all
new-artist releases. A&R executive Jennifer Ces has been named director of A&R, overseeing local repertoire. Sony media director Yann Barbot, who handles strategic marketing and catalog operations, adds responsibility for Sony Classical and special projects. López, Ces, and Barbot report to Sony Music Spain president José María Cámara.
Former Epic MD Manolo Moreno is named director of promotion for Sony Music Spain, reporting to López.
All domestic artists previously signed to Columbia or Epic will now be released under the Sony Music Spain banner. The roster includes La Oreja De Van Gogh, Azucar Moreno, Monica Naranjo, Malú, Melody, and Melon Diesel.
"The growing importance of local A&R in all major markets is the fundamental thinking behind this reorganization," says Cámara. "The company's track record with international repertoire is second to none, but it is crucial we build on our strong local A&R base."
