Sony Music and Universal Music Enterprises are collaborating on album releases tied to the seven-part PBS series "The Blues." The two companies plan a four-CD boxed set, a best-of compilation, and seven individual soundtrack sets; they will also produce value-added DVDs of the series, available as a

boxed set and as individual titles. Sony's Legacy division and Universal's Verve Music Group previously collaborated on a number of releases tied to the PBS series "Ken Burns Jazz."

As previously reported, "The Blues," executive-produced by director Martin Scorsese, will air in the fall of 2003 (Bulletin, Nov. 13, 2001). Directors of individual films in the series include Scorsese, Wim Wenders, Clint Eastwood, and Mike Figgis.
