EMI Recorded Music has promoted Fergal Gara to the new European post of regional VP, anti-piracy. He was new-media director for Capitol in London. Gara, who will manage anti-piracy initiatives for EMI in the U.K. and continental Europe, reports jointly to Tony Wadsworth, chairman/CEO of EMI U.K. &
Ireland, and Emmanuel de Buretel, chairman/CEO of continental Europe. Gara will also work closely with Richard Cottrell, EMI's global head of anti-piracy.
Meanwhile, Danny van Emden, who was new-media director for Virgin U.K., will now take up that role for EMI Recorded Music U.K. & Ireland. She reports to Mike McMahon, director of sales for the company.
