MoS, Xingtone Launch Mobile Store
Independent record company Ministry of Sound has launched an online distribution store for mobile content in the United States via a partnership with Xingtone, a publisher of mobile music ringtone software.
Mobile subscribers in the United States may download ringtones based on Ministry of Sound's catalog, including exclusive content from compilations such as "The Annual" and the polyphonic ringtone version of Eric Prydz's hit "Call on Me." Other artists whose ringtones are featured include Boogie Pimps, Aloud, Deepest Blue and Tomcraft.
Xingtone provides the site's mobile content delivery engine. Visitors may also link to the Xingtone site to download the firm's software, which allows them to create custom ringtones using music they already own.
"Xingtone not only enables our distribution and sales, but gives us a larger portion of the revenue by making us less dependent on wireless carriers for delivery of our content," says Richard Leslie, CEO of Ministry of Sound's U.S. agency, Trend Influence.
