U.K. Counterfeiter Gets Jail Sentence
The Crown Court in Birmingham, England, last week sentenced a counterfeiter of Asian music and videos to 18 months in jail. A series of raids on Mohammed Waqar's store revealed thousands of illegally copied videos, CDs, and DVDs. Raids on his home uncovered video duplicators. In court, Waqar had pleaded
guilty to a number of offenses.
The anti-piracy unit of the British Phonographic Industry, which welcomed the ruling, assisted with the investigation.
